In the coming weeks, people will be able to ask AI assistant Gemini to answer questions, provide summaries and add calendar invites within Google Maps.

With that, Google states Maps will inform you to "turn right" at the gas station up ahead or, perhaps, it'll name the nearest restaurant, so you're better informed on when to turn. This "landmark-based" navigation is rolling out to Android and iOS devices today (Nov 5).

On Wednesday, the company launched four upgrades to Google Maps that make it easier for users to get where they want to go, including new multimodal features, such as conversational natural language prompts to find a stop en route or Lens to identify new places at your destination.

From road tripping home for the holidays, to trekking out to a cabin for a snowy weekend, winter is a great time to travel.
