Minnesota Governor Tim Walz issued an executive order to activate the National Guard Tuesday after the city of St. Paul became the target of a cyberattack. According to the governor's office, the order took effect immediately.

Local, state and federal agencies are investigating a cyberattack against the City of St. Paul that caused the city to shut down its information systems.

Gov. Tim Walz activated the Minnesota National Guard on Tuesday in response to a cyberattack impacting the City of St. Paul . In a statement around 11:45 a.m., the governor's office said city officials requested the deployment of the National Guard's cyber protection assets because of the "magnitude and complexity of the cybersecurity incident."
