Kerr County, Texas, lacked a “last mile” warning mechanism that could have saved residents before the deadly floods devastated the area, including a children’s summer camp, killing more than 80 people.

F lash flooding continues to plague Kerr County as reports of evacuations are surfacing amid the latest flash flood warning. Residents in parts of Kerr County report they are being asked to evacuate and move to higher ground as additional rain falls in the already saturated areas.

Flooding has been at the top of Texans’ minds this week, but this is not the first time that the need for flood-related measures has come up among local officials.
